Roy de Regt (1996) is a product designer based in Rotterdam. Roy shows with his work the beauty and quality of materials that, according to him, get too little attention. Through experimenting with different production techniques he brings the material properties to the surface. This way of researching breaks through the standard methods and guidelines used within different crafts, which gives him new insights.
Roy de Regt works from his design studio based in Rotterdam founded in 2020. He graduated from Willem de Kooning Academy in 2021.
His approach to concepting and design execution is very precise and clear thanks to his great interest in design. The briefing for Roy was like he already dreamt it before, he grasped a certain concept that quickly would evolve to a stool. His attention to detail makes sure that the object is clear and people will enjoy the object while observing the object. Next to his visual approach, a form of tangibility plays also a big role where the user can feel the craftsmanship skills. The collaboration with Bureau CAY resulted in a beautifully executed stool design that represents his design ethos and the parameters of Bureau CAY.
