1. What inspired and convinced you to work with Bureau CAY?
The opportunity and opportunity to design something for a client, I needed a new challenge so this project came at the right time. In addition, there are guidelines that I must follow, but I can still fully use myself and my qualities.
2. What part of the briefing got you excited?
Mainly the part where we are released. There are parameters but they are not directly very limiting.
3. Did you find it challenging to come up with a stool concept for the first collection of Bureau CAY?
Certainly, I always start with different ideas and then I work from a choice of materials that I make. This time, the step to experimenting and designing turned out to be difficult, something that happens often. I also thought the time was a bit short and I had to make a number of hasty choices, I would approach this differently next time.
4. How did the collaboration go with the creative facilitator of Bureau CAY?
The collaboration went quite well. It was clear from the start what the focus was for the project, but I did have some questions about the agreements and expectations. We didn't talk much about this during the project. A moment in the week is sometimes a bit much to agree on, but this was not an issue. There is still a lot to gain in terms of communication. Ways of conveying expectations and making a checklist and list with data are things I would like to see next time, this will certainly promote cooperation.
5. What are your thoughts of having the idea that Royal CBM is looking at your design and potentially taking it into production?
I think it would be interesting to look at possible scaling up of the work with people who are in charge of production. How does something like this work and what are the things that have to be taken into account.
6. Any tips for Bureau CAY for starting the next collection?
Keep on doing what you're doing, I can tell you really enjoy it and take it seriously. Show what the results have been previously and also try to look critically at yourself and tackle points for improvement.
7. What does Bureau CAY need to improve?
Drafting a contract in advance.
Provide a checklist.
Indicate expectations on time.
Data in a row so that everyone knows how to ask freely.
Maybe some group sessions (for now it wasn't feasible but maybe next time :))
8. Did you like to be a part of a design label and platform that represents a community of designers?
For sure, I would definitely like to stay a part and most importantly, participating in something together contributes to motivation and inspiration.
9. Was the timespan of the project realistic?
Not really, this also had to do with Object. If this had not been the case, it would have been realistic in terms of time.
10. Would you recommend future collaborative projects of Bureau CAY to other designers?
Sure, I wouldn't know why not.
11. Are you happy with the end result of the stool and do you think there is a potential of growing this concept?
I am very happy with the result. There is still a lot of room for improvement and fine-tuning but I see it as a very first prototype
